When the Sri Lankan women’s team takes on the English team for the second ODI, their solitary goal will be to bounce back against the world champions. Sri Lanka was blown away by the Heather Knight led-side in the first ODI of the series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. The second game of the series, which is a part of the ICC ODI Championship, will be played on March 18.
If anything, the English women’s team is hurt after the ODI series loss against India recently and would be hungry to win a few more games to give themselves confidence. A small three-match ODI series means that another win for the visitors will give them a series win after Sri Lanka, who are generally known as a tough side to beat at home.
The first game of the series was quite one-sided. England batted first and scored 331 for 7, on the back of key contributions from Amy Jones (79 runs), Heather Knight (61 runs), Natalie Sciver (93 runs) and Danielle Wyatt (47 runs). With huge run chase in store, Sri Lanka slipped early and badly to some fiery bowling of Kate Cross and Katherine Brunt. Once struggling heavily at 46-7, Sri Lanka recovered somehow to score 159-8 in their 40 overs. Oshadi Rangasinhe’s unbeaten fifty and Nilakshi de Silva’s knock of 45 runs were the only players to get some runs on the board as the rain arrived at the end of the 40th over. The match had to be called-off and England won the game by 154 runs via the DLS Method.
Now, the action will shift to the second one-dayer where these two teams will face off against each other once again.
SL W vs ENG W 2nd ODI Team News:
Sri Lanka’s batting failed heavily in the first ODI and their bowling too didn’t respond well when they were put under the pump. They might make some changes to their side but it is unclear if they would be able to trust their bench-strength enough to put them on the field.
England, on the other side, doesn’t need to think about any changes to their XI. Their side is well-balanced for the conditions and after the solid win in the first ODI, it is unlikely they would be looking at any of their alternatives. Their primary goal will be to win this game and seal a series win.
SL W vs ENG W 2nd ODI Dream11 Predictions
Young English wicket-keeper Amy Jones scored a brilliant half-century in the first game and it’s better you put your money on her.
Tammy Beaumont and F. Wilson are promising English batswomen. You can place your bets on them. From the Sri Lankan side, N. de Silva could be worthy pick after her quality knock of 45 in the first game.
This is very simple as Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver and Chamari Attapaththu should your picks in this category. All the three players are key to their side’s success and picking them up in this category would be profitable for you.
Solely on current form, you shouldn’t put your money on anyone but Katherine Brunt and Kate Cross of the English team. O Ranasinghe found some success with the bat and the ball in the first ODI, so you can pick her. Plus, I. Ranaweera can be another worthy pick as well.
