Matabeleland Tuskers and Mid West Rhinos will face off against each other on March 15, 2019, at the Old Hararians ground in Harare. Both the teams will be eyeing a top spot in the points table which will eventually decide which top two teams qualify to the Final on March 17.
Tuskers have played three games so far and only managed a single win out of that. With two losses, they are currently holding fourth place on the table and would be desperate to move up the table. On the other hand, Rhinos have secured two wins from their four games so far. But unfortunately, they are in the second position as Mountaineers have nine points and hold the top spot on the table. Rhinos would be confident to topple the Mountaineers soon as they aim to defeat Tuskers, who are already under the pump. The eighth edition of the Stanbic Bank 20 series is coming towards the end and the intensity of these games have also reached another level with all the teams indulging in some really competitive nature.
In all the matches which have been played at the Old Hararians Sports Club this season, we have seen quite good scores being produced. In fact, no innings have seen less 180 runs being scored and the pitch has favoured the batsmen heavily. Batting has been much easier in the second innings as well, and scores above 180 runs have been chased twice at this venue in this season.
There are no updates on any injuries concerns within either of the side. Having said that, both the teams could make a few changes here and there depending on the weather and pitch on the day on the match. MWR seems like a bit more relaxed side but their recent loss against Mashonaland Eagles on March 14 would have put them on the edge slightly.
Matabeleland Tuskers squad: A Ndlovu (c), BB Chari, CR Ervine, ST Handirisi, C Kunje, TP Maruma, E Masuku, TM Mboyi, CB Mpofu, N Mpofu, TR Mupariwa, C Ncube, J Nyumbu, CK Tshuma and SC Williams.
Mid West Rhinos squad: PJ Moor (C), RP Burl, SF Mire, PS Masvaure, V Sibanda, AJ Moor, N Madziva, TS Chisoro, MT Chinouya, KM Jarvis, B Mavuta and CT Mumba
Rhinos wicket-keeper and captain Peter Moor’s demand should be high considering his position as the national side’s member. If you fancy your chances of getting this one right, maybe going with Poor won’t be such a bad idea.
Solomon Mire of Rhinos has scored some crucial runs for his side in this season which includes a century in the opening game, so he is a must in the team. Other than him, Ryan Burl too has some runs under his belt which makes him a worthy pick. If you want to think differently, you even bet on Vusi Sibanda.
Tuskers on the other side have Brain Chari and Craig Ervine, who have a lot of experience with the bat in tough situations.
Sean Williams could walk into a lot of side across the globe just because of his temperament and composure as a player. He is definitely our top pick.
Kyle Jarvis of Rhinos and Chris Mpofu of Tuskers are two of the bowlers you shouldn’t miss, but you can also have your money on Brain Mavuta.
