After a sensational performance in the Test series against South Africa, Team India will look to continue their winning run in the shortest format of the game when they meet Bangladesh in the opening T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The weather conditions in the capital city haven’t been the greatest but the game will go on as per schedule.
The visiting team suffered a huge blow ahead of the series as their regular skipper Shakib Al Hasan was suspended from international cricket for two years. The home team is definitely a better team on paper but Bangladesh has proved in the last few years that they can pose a stern challenge to any opposition. It will be interesting to see how both teams respond to the occasion.
Venue- Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi
Stand-in skipper for India Rohit Sharma confirmed a day before the match that one from Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube will play in the opening encounter. Samson has been exceptional in the domestic circuit and has earned his national call-up. Hence Samson stands a better chance to make a comeback in national colours. Rishabh Pant is expected to retain his place in the XI and is expected to occupy the no 4 spot. It will be interesting to see whether KL Rahul gets a chance at No 3.
Predicted Playing XI
Rohit Sharma (c), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Sanju Samson, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Yuzvendra Chahal.

In the absence of Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah has been handed over the captaincy duties. Tamim Iqbal has also been ruled out of the series which will be a huge blow for the visitors. The middle-order has some experience and that is the reason why Bangladesh stands a realistic chance of beating India for the first time in the shortest format of the game.

Batsmen- Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar
All-rounders- Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar

Rohit Sharma- The stand-in skipper doesn’t need any introduction and it will be a sensible option to keep him as the captain given his incredible current form across formats.
Krunal Pandya- The elder of the Pandya brothers has become an integral part of the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. He is a useful left-arm spinner in the middle overs and can also do the magic with the bat in hand.
